Nigerian blogger and journalist Rotimi Akinola has written a song inspired by Boko Haram’s abduction of over 250 school girls from Chibok, Borno State, and the state of insecurity in Nigeria.

The song titled “Whither Nigeria?” was made available for free online download on Children’s Day (May 27, 2014).

The song is available for download here

In a bid to circulate the song, Akinola said he tweeted the download link at popular Nigerians like former Education Minister Oby Ezekwesili, foremost blogger Japhet Omojuwa, legendary artist Tu Face, among others.

“I hope the song will help inspire efforts to rescue the missing girls,” Akinola told his friends on Tuesday.

See lyrics here…

Dancing on the brink
We cannot afford to blink
We are still Nigeria
Still the giant of Africa
Book Haram on rampage
Unleashing a bitter rage
Our girls are still missing
Leaving us all now wondering

Chorus: Whither Nigeria? (4 times)

E go better
That’s the song we’ve been singing
And my papa once told me
That his papa sang it too
Waiting for a day for posterity to say
Things are now really better
Really better

Repeat Chorus

Please, President Goodluck Jonathan, #BringBackOurGirls.

Please, Boko Haram, #ReleaseOurGirls
