One of my Facebook friends, Jenny Janet Samuel, shared the following photos this morning.
They’re from around University of Lagos (UNILAG) second gate which is a breath away from Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry’s (MFM) headquarters. The area is flooded.
I am familiar with the vicinity. I’m also aware the church worked on the drainage system to stop things like this from happening, or at least reduce their impact. It’s unfortunate the waters lingered after today’s rain.
It’s typical Lagos, and no…the governemnt is not entirely to blame. A lot of people litter gutters with bottles and sachets and all sorts blocking the path of moving water. So, here we are.
I’ve seen photos of flooding from other areas of the Mainland too.
This one is from Ishola Street, Alagomeji, Sabo, Yaba.
I also heard Mushin is partly flooded. People are saying it’s “Mainland’s turn” after the serious flooding that visited the island part of Lagos a week ago.
Let me add that there are people who believe the lack of planning, the Eko Atlantic project and the senselsss landgrab that are the hallmarks of the Island are to blame for flooding for flooding in the area. In other words, they say it’s the government’s fault. I tend to agree with them, in part.
